Medical Microdermabration
What is it?
Microdermabrasion is a deep exfoliation procedure, which uses a highly controlled flow of fine medical grade carbon crystals to remove the dead outermost layer of the skin [the stratum corneum]. Exfoliating the skin in this way reveals new, living skin cells which are soft, smooth and receptive to nutrients – it will allow the products used in your daily skin care regime to work more effectively.
Many patients notice an improvement in the texture and appearance of the skin immediately after the first treatment and the long-term benefits of multiple procedures can be remarkable.
At Park Clinic we only use the latest technology, available only in medically supervised clinics and the treatment itself can only be performed by a certified practitioner.
What is it used to treat?
Microdermabrasion treatment is suitable for all skin types and an ideal treatment whether you are young, old, male or female. Microdermabrasion can provide a painless alternative for patient’s considering a chemical peel and it is commonly used to treat and diminish
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damaged skin
- Acne prone skin [cannot be performed on active acne areas]
- Blackheads and Whiteheads
- Enlarged Pores
- Superficial Age Spots
- Hyperpigmentation
- Oily Skin
- Dry or Patchy Skin
- Stretch Marks
How does it work?
The system propels a jet of the mircocrystals across the surface of the skin removing dead, unwanted and damaged skin cells. In addition, the friction and stimulation caused by this deep cleansing helps to remodel the collagen in the deeper layer of the skin [the epidermis] improving the skin’s resistance to the effects of ageing.
How is it performed?
Usually, there is no special preparation required. The area to be treated is cleansed, and dried. The technician simply passes over the area with the system’s hand piece. Two ‘passes’ of the treatment area are completed as one treatment.
The procedure is relaxing and you will only experience a slight degree of ‘scratchiness’ whilst it is being performed.
On completion, your skin is ‘finished’ with skin care products appropriate for your individual skin type. If the face is being treated, a sun protection cream will also be applied.
The procedure takes approximately thirty minutes; however, the time required is determined upon the skin condition, the area to be treated and the desired outcome.
Aftercare
The area treated should appear red on completion. This indicates that the treatment has been successful. The redness will fade quickly, and you will be able to apply your make-up immediately if you wish to do so.
You may resume your normal daily skin care regime after treatment; however you should be aware that it is very important to include a UV sunscreen in your skin care regime whilst undertaking Microdermabrasion.
