Sculptra Dermal Fillers
What is it?
Sculptra is a volumising injectable which is used to gradually build volume where it has been lost giving you a natural look.
What is it used to treat?
Sculptra is specifically used to replace the lost fat in the cheeks where the face can become hollow and wrinkled. It will give you back that full youthful appearance and soften lines. How does it work?
When Sculptra is injected into the skin it lifts out the area by adding volume. This volume is achieved by slowly stimulating the build up of the skins own collagen. Usually 3-4 treatments are recommended to achieve the best result. How is it performed?
This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic which has already been added to the Sculptra. The Sculptra is introduced into the skin via a sequence of small injections over the area, after the first couple of injections the local anaesthetic numbs the area making it comfortable. Once both sides of the face have been treated the area is then massaged with Aloe Vera Gel to ensure a smooth surface. How long will it last?
Sculptra will remain in the skin for approximately 18 months and in some cases it has been reported to last up to 3 years. Unlike permanent fillers Sculptra stimulates your bodies own collagen production. What are the risks?
Obviously, no treatment can be guaranteed to present ‘no risk’, however Sculptra has been used in over 17,000 treatments in the UK since 2005 and in over 150,000 treatments world wide since 1999.Sculptra is well tolerated by the body, it is biodegradable, biocompatible and has been used in medicine for the last 10 years.
Are there any special pre-cautions before undergoing the treatment?
Occasionally patients may get a bruise from this treatment but the risk can be minimised by observing some simple standard pre-cautions, such as limiting alcohol the evening before treatment, not taking analgesics containing aspirin for 1 week before treatment and if you are prone to bruising you may benefit from taking Arnica tablets for 1 week prior to treatment.Aftercare
